It is still the cold season (June-August) in Kenya; the weather is both cool and dry, but very chilly in the mornings and evenings. The days can be warm with sunlight or cloudy. The temperature fluctuates between 50 and 60 degrees.

Term Dates

The school reopened after a three-day midterm break on Monday, June 29, 2026. The children are now sitting for their end-of-term exams, which began on 20th July. The school will close for the August holiday on July 29, 2026, to reopen on August 24, 2026.

Student Enrollment

There are 248 students, 121 girls and 127 boys. This includes 41 students in Junior School.

The school held birthday and other celebrations in July. We celebrated with biscuits!

Student Projects

The Grade 9 students have completed their Term 2 projects in the following subjects: Agriculture (construction of a chicken coop) and Creative Arts (Art & Photography). The results will count towards their end-of-year grade in the national exam. Also notice the framed-out shed for Agriculture and Home Science.

       

   

Perimeter Wall Construction

We are grateful to God for the completion of the perimeter wall construction. Besides the safety assurance, we now have an additional playing field for the school. Playing ball games will not work due to the still sloping terrain, but also the risk of the ball running over the fence to the road. We are seeking doable options. In the meantime, we plan on planting grass both on the inside and outside of the wall. The project cost about KES 1,112,021.

Room Allocation

With the children (kindergarten to Grade 6) having moved to Sifa House, we have reallocated the rooms to ease congestion.

In Soma House, we have two children’s libraries (photos with yellow), an examination room, a uniforms room, and offices. Moreover, the uniforms room has moved to a more spacious room (photo with women working). We plan on having a computer room in Soma House. Also, we now have a dedicated chapel and prayer room (photo with students around tables).

   

     

Discipleship Program

The Sunday afternoon Discipleship Program has continued using the Safari Discipleship books for different groups of the children and the youth. (Photos are of Discipleship Youth and Discipleship Junior School Children.)

   

Walk Event

The planned 4th July school fundraising walk took place in the morning, followed by a goat barbecue in the afternoon. While event attendance was lower than expected, the event successfully raised awareness, with many people reached through invitations. The school raised KShs. 299,700 through gate fees, pledges, and merchandise sales. A few children participated in walking and seeking sponsorship for the walk. The experience strengthened community engagement and established a solid foundation for increased participation and support in future fundraising events.

   

Visitors

On July 21, 2026, the school received four Visitors from the US from the group Medical Education International. This is the third time that most of them have visited Kenya and PAAV-Gitombo. They are specialists in the fields of special needs education and spent time with the children, teachers, and parents in a bid to ensure the parents and teachers are in a position to offer the best care possible to the children based on their needs. In addition to their invaluable knowledge, the visitors also brought gifts for the children in the form of balls, stationery, and card games. You see them below with the twins (upper left) and exciting students with bubble gum (lower right). Also, you can see the visiting men with the boys in the big photo below the others.
